FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF PEEL-OFF GEL MASK FROM EXTRACT OF RED SPINACH (Amaranthus tricolor L.)

Red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) contains various secondary metabolites that act as antioxidants. These activities can be used to maintain the health of facial skin due negative impact free radicals in form cosmetic preparations peel-off gel mask. This study aims make a mask preparation from red extract meets requirements for physical evaluation preparation. The extraction process was carried out by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. thick then made into with variations concentration 0.5% (F1), 1% (F2), and 2% (F3). Furthermore, at room temperature 4 weeks storage, drying time test, irritation preference cycling test out. has been determined Amaranthus L. results phytochemical screening showed contained positive alkaloids, saponins flavonoids. all met were not irritating. higher extract, darker color pH viscosity values. stable during storage but decreased value dispersion after passing 6 cycles test. 60% respondents liked F3, which is formula dark green color, distinctive aroma spinach, homogeneous, 7.54, 6.2 cm, 7200 cps 20.23 minutes.
